Oak Environmental found signs that a fuel tank might be present during Phase I ESA research. There was a map from the 1980s and a vent pipe on the building. There was no paperwork showing the tank had been removed, so the buyer needed to find out if a tank was still there before buying the property.
Oak quickly scheduled a non-invasive underground tank scan using ground-penetrating radar (GPR) and magnetometry across key areas of concern.
We:
● Marked out utilities
● Conducted a full subsurface scan around the property
● Identified a metallic anomaly consistent with a 1,000-gallon tank approximately 4 feet below ground surface
● Provided a same-day summary report with clear next steps
The client paused closing and negotiated a seller-funded tank removal
No further contamination was discovered during tank removal
