Farmland/Residential

SALEM COUNTY, NJ

Findings

Recognized Environmental Conditions that warranted more investigation included two 550-gallon aboveground storage tanks (ASTs), underground storage tanks (USTs), a pad-mounted transformer, pesticide/herbicide, asbestos containing material (ACM), lead-based paint (LBP), Polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), stained soil around the ASTs, two natural ponds, two potable wells, two septic systems, and historical use manufacturing/industrial concerns.

Phase II Environmental Site Assessment (Phase II ESA)

A Phase II ESA was performed at the property to assess selected Recognized Environmental Conditions. A geophysical investigation was performed to search the property for underground storage tanks (USTs), soil and groundwater samples were obtained and analyzed. Laboratory analysis indicated contamination of groundwater near the ASTs and the former septic system.

Remediation

A soil excavation was performed in both areas; additional groundwater sampling and analysis was performed and indicated compliance with NJDEP standards.
